Build day 11

Well it was not so much of a build day as a consolidation day...got a whole bunch of niggling problems settled for myself.

Brakes

The banjo (fluid) bolts for the master cylinder are too long at 22mm, I'll  need 17mm. However I thought I'd check them against the banjo bolts in the callipers...different thread and neither metric. I figure the Wilwood master cylinders are american UNF and the callipers are imperial. Anyway I'm taking them both to BPA (the brake suppliers in Eagle Farm) to sort it out.

Lights

I now have all my lights (with the darndratted exception of the high level brake light - another visit to Autobarn). I also have my Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, coil leads and ECU with keys, ignition and key id transponder (except the ignition is just the tumbler not the switch assembly and I told the supplier it was NOT for a Focus but for a kit car - it's the old "assume" rule).

Radiator

While I was in the garage looking at the brakes I thought I'd fit the radiator, only to find the Craig Davies fan does not fit the mounts on the radiator. So I made up some brackets and installed the fan to the radiator. As there is 20mm clearance between the fan and the actual core there shouldn't be any restriction to the airflow.

Build day 10

There hasn't been a lot of progress in the past few weeks as I ran out of parts, well, I had forgotten to order them...doh!. So I have have been reading the Birkin manuals and surfing the web and emailing all over the place...

I have shockies, waterrail, Raceline sump, engine loom and mass airflow unit on order with Frank at Birkin. I have bought all my lights (with the exception of the headlights below) with flexi-conduit and cable fastenings from Elecspess at Virginia. I have also ordered an ECU kit with coil leads and mass airflow sensor from Auto Parts Centre.

I am in the process of buying an aeroscreen from Alan (The Scotsman) on OzClubbies. I am looking at Speedhut for my gauges, their website allows you to design your own gauges; colours, marks, fonts, bezel etc.

Pedal Box

Below is my pedal box all assembled. As I mentioned I had to file out the holes for the master cylinders so the boots would fit. So once I have the dash finished I can fit the scuttle and complete the hydraulics.

Headlights

These headlights are all Autopal parts from N A Auto and not "Made in China"..."Made in India". I had a bit of a panic when I thought I had two left hand units but the OzClubbies forum straightened me out; the arrows pointing to the left on the glass indicate the dip direction.
